Following openings and the start of proof, Michelle Parker concluded a FELA case in NY Supreme Court, Erie County for a Class One railroad. Plaintiff trackman alleged spinal complaints leading to 2 surgeries and a future 3rd surgery. The primary claim arose from defect/LIA violation; the secondary claim was for alleged occupational exposure. In pre-trial videotaped cross-examination of plaintiff's original treating orthopedic surgeon, Parker showed the extensive pre-incident treatment to the cervical spine, that those complaints were due to age and genetics, that his post-incident complaints were consistent with an ongoing cervical spondylosis, and that his lumbar spine was in remarkably good shape.

Attorney Elizabeth Midgley won a premises liability case she defended for a commercial landlord in NY Supreme Court, Cattaraugus County. Plaintiff alleged that her slip-and-fall in a parking lot was due to the landlord's negligence with respect to a sunken manhole cover. Midgley demonstrated that the valve cover was reasonably located and that it was proper for it to be slightly recessed to avoid buckling about grade level during freeze-thaw cycles. The jury agreed, finding the defendant was free from negligence.

On February 9, 2011, attorneys Kent Riesen and Dennis Lyle secured summary judgment on behalf of an engineering firm in a $16 Million environmental spill case. The litigation involved engineering design issues, dike construction, SPCC plans, FRP plans, spill migration, soil analysis and complex damage claims. After 5 years of development in this complex, document intense litigation, the claims were narrowed and then successfully defeated, as the Court adopted each defense propounded by the defendant.

Sylvania Southview (2 teams), under the direction of Dennis Lyle, and Perrysburg High, under the direction of Kent Riesen, advanced to the 2011 regional mock trial competition.
