His high school mock trial teams have won a record five state titles. Prior to his involvement in mock trial, Dennis taught Business Organizations, Consumer Transactions, Landlord-tenant law and Civil Procedure classes at the University of Toledo Legal Assistant programs.

Dennis commenced his legal career serving as an appellate clerk at the Sixth District Court of Appeals for Judge, later Ohio Supreme Court Justice, Andrew Douglas. Prior to his legal career, he was employed as a public accountant with Peat Marwick.
