Daniel R. Schuda was born in Charleston, West Virginia in 1946. He received a Bachelor’s degree from Glenville State College in 1969, and spent the next four years in the U.S. Air Force. Dan received an M.B.A. from the University of Delaware in 1974 and, in 1977, received his J.D. degree from West Virginia University, where he was a member of Phi Alpha Delta and Associate Editor of the West Virginia Law Review. After his admission to the West Virginia bar in 1977, Dan served as law clerk for the next three years to Judge Robert E. Maxwell of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of West Virginia. For almost 20 years, Dan practiced with Steptoe & Johnson, a seven-office litigation firm with more than 130 attorneys, serving in several management positions. He resigned as a partner in 1999 to open his own law firm, Schuda & Associates, LLC.
Within the legal profession, Mr. Schuda is a member of the West Virginia State Bar, the Kanawha County Bar, the West Virginia Defense Trial Counsel, the American Bar Association, The Defense Research Institute, participates in the West Virginia State Bar Lawyer Information Referral Service and is a qualified mediator through the West Virginia State Bar.
Mr. Schuda maintains a broad litigation practice, defending cases as diverse as personal injury and wrongful death, products liability (often involving technical issues), insurance coverage and bad faith actions, and malpractice by various professionals in both state and federal courts throughout the State of West Virginia. Mr. Schuda has been distinguished as a SuperLawyer since 2007, enjoys an AV peer review rating by Martindale-Hubbell and has tried to a jury over 150 cases.
